Heigl’s costars stick up for the actress after she lashes out at the bosses over publicizing her salary dispute.

The behind-the-scenes drama continues to rival the onscreen drama on Grey’s Anatomy.

Just a few days after she bashed ABC and Touchtone for making her contract negotiations public, Katherine Heigl’s Anatomy costars are coming to her defense.

"She's a super-talented girl," Kate Walsh told People. "Everyone's just working hard."

Last week, gossip hounds began barking that Heigl was stalling in contract negotiations after it was announced that Walsh’s character, Dr. Addison Montgomery, was getting her own spin-off show. (Please, don’t call the show Montgomery’s Ward!)

The truth is Heigl, who plays Dr. Izzie Stevens, doesn’t make as much as her costars Sandra Oh or Isaiah Washington and is looking for a little equal pay for equal work.

"Heigl's representation felt it unfair that she was still not being offered the same compensation as some of the other supporting actors are making. And so, obviously, someone leaked the story [to the media],” a source told E! Online.

After the story was disclosed to the gossip magazines, Heigl decided to plead her case in the court of public opinion.

"I am embarrassed that this has become a public matter and disappointed that Touchstone felt it necessary to divulge private employment information," Heigl said in the statement. "I had hoped I would be able to deal with this issue confidentially with my bosses. I dropped out of the renegotiation simply because I wanted to treat myself with the respect I was not getting from them."

Sara Ramirez, who plays Dr. Callie O’Malley, says Heigl and her Anatomy costars are getting a bad rap in the press.

"She's lovely,” Ramirez told People. “Everybody's very professional--not just Katherine--but everybody else too."

Lest you forget, Grey’s Anatomy made headlines late last year when Washington and Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsey got into an on-set scuffle, which ended with Washington hurling a homophobic remark at T.K. Knight, who plays Dr. George O’Malley, essentially outing the actor.

Washington later apologized for the remark and entered rehab, which is what celebrities do when they want to clean up their image. Just ask Mel Gibson.

Despite the brawling over the salary, Heigl is signed on for at least three more seasons of ABC’s Thursday night hit, so the 28-year-old actress isn’t going anywhere.
