Life: Did you take this part to act out a few doctor fantasies?

Patrick Dempsey: No, not at all, and i didn't like hospitals growing up - who does?

L.: Other than acting, what's your dream job, then?

P.D.: An architect. I just like the creative process of building, as well as the frustration of it. Remodeling is something I like to do on the weekends.

L.: Your other weekend obsessions?

P.D.: I'm fanatical about cars and car racing, so if there's an F-1 or NASCAR or any race on TV, I'm usually watching. It's something my daughter (Tallulah, 3) and I do together. Afterward, we'll get out of the house and introduce her mom, my wife Jillian, back into the picture.

L.: What kind of effect is all this NASCAR watching going to have on your daughter, when she grows up?

P.D.: She'll know all about cars, so the guys will like her, which may be a bad thing. I might have to counteract that right away.
