Yvonne Jung currently plays the quirky paramedic Holly Levine on NBC’s “Third Watch”. She loves that the show’s writers and producers have had the courage to depict a complex women, including Levine who ranges from aggressive and deluded to loving and selfless.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Jung has lived in Edmonton,Canada, Stuttgart, Germany, Jordans ( a small village outside London, England) and Boston. As a kid she attended more that 20 different schools and moved countless times. She currently resides in New York City with her two year old son and husband actor Anthony Ruivivar.
Raised by her father,Jung is the only one in her immediate family that didn’t go into academia. Her father holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Harvard, her mother got her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Alberta, and her sister is currently getting her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Bielefeld in Germany.
Jung spent several years studying to be a professional ballerina at the world renowned John Cranko Ballet School in Stuttgart, Germany. While living there she became fluent in German. She was in the International Baccalaureate Program in high school and graduated from Boston University School for the Arts with a BFA in acting.
Jung did her first professional show at the age of ten, playing the title character in the critically acclaimed “Joe Egg”. However her real training began after moving to New York, it is there, on the off Broadway stages where she began making a name for herself. Some of her many New York theater credits include: Darlene in “Balm in Gilead”, L’il Bit in “How I Learned to Drive”, Sabina in “Safe”, Lula in “The Dutchman” and Desdemona in "Goodnight Desdemona”. She’s a member of Imua! Theater Co., and Circle East (formerly Circle Rep Lab).
Jung played Nicole in the award winning CBC pilot “When Your Parents Split”. She’s guest starred on “ER”, “Sopranos” and “Law and Order”.
Jung’s birthday is December 26th.
